Fantasy: Week 12 Player Rankings

Posted by Dustin Hockensmith

After a five-week absence, our player rankings are back in time for the 12th week of the fantasy season. With his torrid June, Alex Rodriguez has re-claimed the top spot from Florida’s Hanley Ramirez in just one of the many changes in our top 20.

Also on the rise are New York’s Jose Reyes and Boston’s Jacoby Ellsbury for their significant contributions in stolen bases and solid production across the board. Tampa Bay’s B.J. Upton overtook teammate Carl Crawford as the top Rays’ hitter on the list, and he moved within one spot of a wide open top 10.

The Texas Rangers’ powerful offense has upstarts Josh Hamilton and Ian Kinsler in our top 25, and former Ranger Adrian Gonzalez finally gets his due for putting up big slugging numbers in a poor hitter’s park. Edinson Volquez, traded from Texas to Cincinnati for Hamilton, just keeps pitching and making us question if he will ever run into trouble.

Boston’s J.D. Drew looks to be turning the corner from ‘good’ to ‘great,’ carrying the offensive load for the Red Sox in the absence of David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez. He is just one of several rising outfielders in the bottom portion of our top 50; joining Drew are Chicago’s Carlos Quentin, St. Louis’ Ryan Ludwick and Pittsburgh’s Nate McLouth.

Injuries to Albert Pujols, Alfonso Soriano, David Ortiz, Rafael Furcal and others have reshaped our list, as they will not be ranked while on the disabled list.
