Week 13 Free Agent Profiles: Hitters

As teams battle for positioning and bragging rights during the second and last round of interleague play, key players and fantasy producers Clint Barmes, Jeff Keppinger and Josh Willingham have returned to their teams and thus have joined our list of players available in at least 50 percent of fantasy leagues.

Marcus Thames is propelling the Tigers up the AL Central leader board, while Fred Lewis of the Giants and Casey Blake of the Indians are producing for floundering teams. 

Fred Lewis, OF, San Francisco Giants
Status: Providing leadoff spark
Key Stats: .391 BA, 2 HR, 7 RBIs during 12 game hit streak
What to Watch For: Speed resulting in consistently high average
Other Notes: Hitting .308 against righthanded pitching but only .194 against southpaws

Marcus Thames, OF, Detroit Tigers
Status:
Leading Tigers toward .500 mark
Key Stats: 8 HRs since June 11
What to Watch For: Continued streakiness
Other Notes: Better average at home, but more home runs on the road

Casey Blake, 1B, 3B, Cleveland Indians
Status:
Producing for struggling Indians
Key Stats: .375 average, 5 RBIs last 7 games
What to Watch For: Not much power, but RBIs come in bunches
Other Notes: .429 average with RISP leads AL

Josh Willingham, OF, Florida Marlins
Status: Activated from DL Tuesday
Key Stats: .361 average and 6 home runs prior to injury
What to Watch For: Some, but not too much rust
Other Notes: 12-game hit streak April 12-24 included 5 multi-hit games

Jeff Clement, C, Seattle Mariners
Status: Splitting time with Kenji Johjima
Key Stats: Broke through for first home run Sunday
What to Watch For: Above average power for a catcher
Other Notes: 14 HRs in 47 games at AAA last season

Gary Matthews, OF, Los Angeles Angels
Status:
Making a case to stick in crowded outfield
Key Stats: .313 average, 3 SBs in June
What to Watch For: If playing time will decrease
Other Notes: More power from the right side (3 HR in 68 at-bats)

Mike Aviles, 2B, SS, Kansas City Royals
Status: Continues to produce since callup
Key Stats: 3 multi-hit games in last 5
What to Watch For: If early success plateaus
Other Notes: Hitting .500 vs. left-handed pitching

Jeff Keppinger, 2B, Cincinnati Reds
Status:
Close to 100 percent
Key Stats: .500 average, 5 RBIs during 6-game hit streak
What to Watch For: How he responds after missing time
Other Notes: 8-for-12 in May 10-12 series against Mets

Clint Barmes, 2B, SS, Colorado Rockies
Status:
Everyday second base job is his to lose
Key Stats: 1-for-4 in first game back from DL
What to Watch For: Continuation of pre-injury numbers
Other Notes: .329 average with 4 home runs at Coors Field

Jose Bautista, 3B, Pittsburgh Pirates
Status:
Contributing to surprisingly productive Pirates offense
Key Stats: 5 HRs in last 9 games
What to Watch For: How long home run stroke will last
Other Notes: Hitting only .219 with 1 HR at PNC Park
