Aaron Miles is 5 feet 8, 175 pounds, chokes up three inches on his bat handle, and entering Sunday’s game with the Padres, had never hit a walk-off home run at any level of baseball. Nevertheless, it was Miles that walked off in the ninth with his third home run of the season and gave the Cards a four-game sweep in St. Louis. Miles was 3-for-5 with 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs in the game. He’s now hitting .323 with 23 RBIs on the season.
While he will never be mistaken for a home run hitter or even a consistent base stealer, Miles’ recent hot streak has earned him an everyday job, increasing his value in the elusive fantasy stopgap role.
