We will be rolling out plenty of 2010 fantasy baseball coverage in the coming days, weeks and months, but let’s start right here with player-by-player profiles of our rough top 100 preseason rankings. Stay tuned to the site for more player profiles, draft kit information, rankings, sleepers, busts, etc. as Spring Training approaches.

Chone Figgins, 3B, Seattle Mariners
Overview:
Speedy third baseman who signed a free agent deal with the Mariners this winter … presents a dilemma at the hot corner in that he is hands down the best source of stolen bases, but has never cracked double-digit home runs in a single season … is an active baserunner, who could vie for the MLB lead in steals and, at the least, cruise past 40 steals … is also a solid Major League hitter who posted career-highs with 114 runs, 30 doubles, 101 walks and a .395 OBP last season.
2009 numbers: .298 avg. 5 HRs, 54 RBIs, 114 runs, 42 SBs in 158 games
Key splits and trends: Was a .323 hitter from the left side of the plate and a .246 hitter from the right side … was 20-for-23 in stolen base attempts to start the season, then went 22-for-36 the rest of the way … walk rate (14 pct.) was the highest of his career, which led to career-bests in OBP (.395) and runs scored (114).
Strengths: Is quick and has a constant green light on the basepaths … the result is an ability to steal 60 bases, which he’s done once, in any given season … is a good contact hitter with a .291 career average and a good run scorer.
Weaknesses: Is a serious liability as a starting third basemen … offers no power and an RBI total that is well below average from a corner infielder … is slightly built and a mild injury concern.
Bold prediction for 2010: New scenery, same results: .300 avg., 100+ runs, 50 SBs.
