Good call on both.

A lot of these first-time All-Stars, you root for them to pitch or play like they belong. I felt especially bad for Dan Uggla (who's not a first-time All-Star) because you could just see the embarrassment on his face.

Home runs happen in games like these. Any sign of not being sharp, and the world's best hitters will punish you. But for Uggla, I'm sure the honor of being there was replaced by pain. It's unfortunate, but he won't be able to look back on a big day with any kind of fondness.

Correction: The AL won its 11th straight All-Star Game. They haven't lost in 12 straight decisions, because of the tie a few years back.

Edinson Volquez had a few nasty looking pitchers out their on the mound, and has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the game this year. It was sad to see him give up that home run to Drew.

I watched Pelfrey the other night and he looked good. It will be interesting to see how Liriano does when he comes back. Great break down.

The slow start had been wearing on me. If he can keep the production up for the rest of the season I may forgive April, May, and most of June.

I haven't decided if I'll be happy to see Tex go or not yet but I'm not real confident we'll keep him.

It was a fun game to watch though. Even if Tex is the next Sheffield or Andruw.

This is a shock. Not Dontrelle getting sent down. It's where he got sent to. But I was reading somewhere else that its better for him to go to Lakeland because there will be less distractions there than there will be in Toledo, where the Tigers AAA team is based.

Another shocker is that there's no timetable on his return. But it only shows you that the Tigers are committed to rebuilding this guy. He's so young so you'd hope that he figures this thing out and get back to the majors so he can return to that same dominant pitcher back in '05.

I love Ken Griffey Jr. When I was a kid he and Don Mattingly were my two favorite baseball players. The time my father took me to meet him in person is one of my fondest childhood memories. When we buy a house, and I finally have a place to display all my sports memorabilia, the bat he signed for me that day will be one of the pieces I’m most proud to show off.
